1. Information the app handles

1.1 Journal data stored on your device

Depending on the features you choose to use, Feelwheel stores:

• The feelings and body sensations you select.
• Journal notes, entry dates and times, and the time zone associated with an entry.
• Photos or voice notes that you deliberately attach to an entry.
• App preferences, reminder settings, and whether optional iCloud sync, Apple Health mirroring, or app locking is enabled.
• A small on-device activity log used to understand feature flow during local development, such as whether an entry was saved or the paywall was shown. This log does not leave your device and is not sent to an analytics provider.

The app protects its local journal store using Apple’s device data-protection mechanisms. A device passcode, Face ID, or Touch ID and the security of your Apple account remain your responsibility.

1.2 Photos and microphone

If you attach a photo, Apple’s system photo picker lets you choose the specific image made available to Feelwheel. The app does not require broad access to your photo library.

If you create a voice note, Feelwheel requests microphone permission and records only after you choose to start recording. Photos and voice notes are stored with the related journal entry and are not sent to us.

1.3 Local reminders

If you enable reminders, Feelwheel schedules notifications locally through Apple’s notification system. The app does not operate a push-notification server and does not record whether you missed a reminder.

1.4 Purchases

Feelwheel Plus is offered through Apple’s StoreKit. Apple processes payment, transaction, renewal, cancellation, and refund information. Feelwheel receives the purchase entitlement needed to unlock features; we do not receive your card or bank details. Apple’s privacy policy applies to App Store purchases.

2. Optional Apple services

2.1 iCloud sync

iCloud sync is off by default. If you enable it, the journal, including any attached photos or voice notes, is synchronized through Apple’s CloudKit into your private iCloud database so it can appear on your devices signed in to the same Apple account. Feelwheel does not create its own account or server for this feature. Apple processes and stores the synchronized data under Apple’s iCloud terms and privacy policy.

Turning sync off stops future synchronization after the app reopens, but does not itself delete copies already held in iCloud or on another device. You can manage iCloud data through Apple settings.

2.2 Apple Health

Apple Health mirroring is off by default and requires your permission. If you enable it, Feelwheel writes each named feeling to the Health app as a momentary State of Mind record containing the entry time, mapped feeling labels, and valence. Feelwheel requests write access only and does not read health information from Apple Health. Your journal note, photo, voice note, and body-sensation selections are not included.

Health data is not used for advertising, marketing, profiling, or sale. You can revoke Feelwheel’s Health permission and manage Health records in Apple’s Health app or Settings. Apple governs storage and processing within Apple Health.

2.3 Apple Watch and system features

If you use the Apple Watch app, a feeling selected on the watch is transferred through Apple’s Watch Connectivity service to your paired iPhone for storage. App Intents, Siri, widgets, and the system share sheet are processed by Apple and by any recipient you deliberately choose.

3. Exports and sharing

You can export a JSON backup or a year-book PDF. Exported backups may include the complete journal and any attached photos or voice notes. Feelwheel uses Apple’s document picker or share sheet; the location, person, or service you select receives the exported file. We do not control a recipient’s handling of data you choose to share.

4. Information we do not collect

The current version of Feelwheel has:

• No Feelwheel user account or developer-operated application backend.
• No advertising or cross-app tracking.
• No third-party analytics or crash-reporting SDK.
• No sale or rental of personal information.
• No cloud AI processing of journal content.
• No collection by us of your name, email address, contacts, precise location, advertising identifier, journal entries, photos, or voice notes.

5. Retention, deletion, and your choices

Local journal data remains until you delete entries, use Delete Everything, or remove the app. You can export a backup before deleting. Local preferences and locally recorded feature-flow events remain until reset or app removal.

When iCloud sync is enabled, deletion can synchronize across connected devices. Because turning sync off or uninstalling one copy of the app may not erase data already in iCloud or on another device, use Apple’s iCloud management controls when you want to remove those copies. Health records and App Store transaction records are managed separately by Apple under Apple’s retention rules.

You can withdraw optional permissions at any time in Apple Settings. EEA, UK, and California residents may contact us about applicable privacy rights. In practice, we generally cannot identify or retrieve your journal because we do not receive it.

6. Children and wellbeing

Feelwheel is a general-audience personal journal and is not directed to children under 13, or the minimum age required in their country. We do not knowingly collect children’s personal information.

Feelwheel is not a medical device, diagnostic service, treatment, or substitute for professional mental-health care. Journal entries and insights are for personal reflection only. If you are in immediate danger or experiencing a mental-health emergency, contact local emergency services or an appropriate crisis service.

7. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the app or legal requirements change. The Last Updated date above will identify the current version. Material changes will be communicated through the app or its store listing where appropriate.
